Franco-British Fund for Contemporary Music

The creation of Diaphonique, a Franco-British fund for contemporary music, is due to the determination of a group of institutions and music lovers eager to develop Franco-British exchange in the domain of contemporary classical music.

The project finally took off in December 2010 thanks to financial support from SACEM (Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs de Musique), the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and its sponsors, as well as the French Music Export Office. Later, the French Ministry of Culture, the British Council and the Société Générale became partners of Diaphonique. The Institut français du Royaume-Uni has been commissioned by the different partners to manage the fund.

Diaphonique is aimed at music professionals: orchestras, ensembles, concert halls, operas, festivals and conservatoires of music. Diaphonique intends to support their projects – concerts, commissions, masterclasses – and to enable them to multiply exchanges between France and the UK. A first call for projects was launched in the first half of 2011.

Supported by a prestigious honorary committee which brings together several key players in the field of contemporary classical music (Thomas Adès, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, George Benjamin and Marc-André Dalbavie), and an artistic committee made up of reputed professionals, Diaphonique now aims to develop its activities and associate itself with larger projects.

I hope that Diaphonique will offer you the necessary support which will enable your projects to find a place in the Franco-British music landscape.
