This project brings together the Nantes based (FR) contemporary hybrid gamelan / percussion Ensemble Nist-Nah and the UK duo of Church Andrews & Matt Davies for a first collaboration, creating new work at the intersection of experimental gamelan, live electronics, and experimental contemporary minimalist percussion. The new works will explore new forms of interaction, tuning systems, and rhythmic structures within an expanded ensemble format. The project aims to generate new work that challenges conventional boundaries between composition and improvisation, individual and collective authorship, and acoustic and electronic sound worlds.

  • Four-day artistic residency at Le Lieu Unique in Nantes followed by a concert

  • Concert in Le Havre (Piednu) & French tour

  • Gamelan workshop in Nantes

Mid October 2027 — United Kingdom

  • Two-day residency in Todmorden

  • Concerts in Todmorden, Manchester with Eroteme, Bristol at Strange Brew, London at Cafe OTO

  • Two workshops organised in Todmorden and Manchester
